Dan Cole, Tom Youngs & Marcos Ayerza sign Leicester Tigers deals

Dan Cole (left) and Tom Youngs
England duo Dan Cole and Tom Youngs have joined fellow international front-rower Marcos Ayerza in agreeing new deals with Premiership side Leicester.
The Tigers have not revealed the length of the contracts for prop Cole and hooker Youngs, both 27, or prop Ayerza, 31, but describe them as "long-term".
Director of rugby Richard Cockerill said: "It is great news.
"They are genuine world-class players in key positions and are important parts of the senior core to the squad."
Youngs made his Tigers debut as a centre in 2006 but switched to hooker and has become a regular part of the international set-up.
Cole, who like Youngs was part of the British & Irish Lions squad that toured Australia in 2013, has recently returned to action after a neck injury and is likely to be part of the England squad for the Six Nations in 2015.
Argentine international Ayerza has played nearly 200 games for Leicester since joining in 2006.
Cockerill added: "We have a good crop of front-rowers who work well together and they help to get the best out of each other.
"Marcos, Tom and Dan, with their attitude to training and playing, and their experience at the top levels of the game, play a massive role in that."

All Blacks: Coach Steve Hansen signs new contract

New Zealand coach Steve Hansen
New Zealand coach Steve Hansen has signed a contract extension until 2017.
Hansen's previous deal ran out after the 2015 World Cup but he will now be in charge until after the Kiwis host a British and Irish Lions tour.
The former Wales coach is the first All Blacks boss to be given a contract extension beyond a World Cup.
Hansen had been assistant to former coach Graham Henry since 2004. He succeeded him after New Zealand's 2011 World Cup triumph.
The All Blacks have won 38 of their 42 tests in Hansen's tenure, with the other games bringing two losses and two draws.
"After getting the support of my family and various team personnel to continue, I asked myself if I still had the hunger and desire to continue in the role," said Hansen.
"I do, so the decision to continue became a no-brainer, because there is no better job in world rugby."

Jose Mourinho backs Frank Lampard departure from Chelsea

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini (right) and midfielder Frank Lampard
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says letting Frank Lampard go last summer was the right decision for the club's future.
Lampard, 36, initially joined MLS side New York City on a two-year deal before signing for sister club Manchester City on loan until the end of December.
City are battling Chelsea for the Premier League title and want to extend the impressive midfielder's loan deal.
"The project is to prepare for the next 10 years, not the next year - we made the right decision," Mourinho said.
Lampard left the London club after 13 years at Stamford Bridge in which he became the club's record goalscorer with 211 goals in his 649 appearances.
He has scored six times for City, including against Chelsea in September's 1-1 draw, with his latest goal coming in the 1-0 victory over Leicester City last Saturday.
Champions City are three points behind league leaders Chelsea with 36 points from 16 games.
Chelsea negated the loss of Lampard by signing Spain international Cesc Fabregas, while also bringing back former striker Didier Drogba, 36, and retaining 34-year-old centre-back John Terry.
"You can argue 'You have John Terry and Didier Drogba'. Different. Drogba is a striker that is coming to help and support the team," Mourinho said.
"John Terry is the best central defender in English football and it doesn't matter how old he is.
"The nucleus of the team has to be developed and to have a big player like Frank we would stop the development of the other guys."

David De Gea: Manchester United relaxed about new deal for keeper

Man Utd's David De Gea
Manchester United are confident David De Gea's future is at Old Trafford.
The Spanish keeper's contract expires in 2016 and the 24-year-old is aware of reports of interest  from Real Madrid.
United have not said if contract talks have begun, although it would be normal practice as the deal is about to enter its final 18 months.
Senior club sources say they are "relaxed" about the future of a player that captain Wayne Rooney feels is "the best keeper in the world".
De Gea, an £18.9m arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2011, was outstanding in Sunday's 3-0 win over Liverpool at Old Trafford.
Even though former Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes is currently training with United as he recovers from major knee surgery, De Gea is still viewed as an integral part of Louis van Gaal's squad.
"David is important for us," said Rooney. "His performances have been fantastic."

Sergio Aguero: Manuel Pellegrini says Man City striker can get better

Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini says there is more to come from in-form striker Sergio Aguero.
The 26-year-old Argentine took his Premier League and Champions League goal tally for the season to 19 with two in the 4-1 win at Sunderland.
"Sergio is only 26 and he can improve every day," said Pellegrini.
"At the moment we are seeing very high performances from him. Not only is he scoring but he is playing well as well."
Aguero's haul includes all four in a 4-1 rout of Tottenham on 18 October and a hat-trick in the 3-2 Champions League win over Bayern Munich on 25 November.

Liverpool's Anfield stadium expansion: Construction to begin on Monday

Artist's impression of the new Anfield stadiumThe plans involve expanding the main stand to three tiers, increasing the ground's capacity to almost 59,000
Liverpool say they will begin work on Monday to increase Anfield's capacity from about 45,500 to 59,000.
The five-time European champions' £100m project can go ahead after they completed the purchase of the final house which will need to be cleared in order to make way for the expansion.
The first phase of the work will begin on the Main Stand, which will feature a new third tier, adding 8,300 seats.
The Anfield Road Stand will then be expanded to add a further 4,800 seats.
The work is expected to be completed in time for the 2016-17 season, and will significantly enhance the club's revenues.Artist's impression of the new Anfield stadium

The project will also include additional conference and banqueting facilities, a new club shop and more car parking.
The expansion is part of a wider £260m regeneration of the Anfield area of the city.
According to the planning application approved by Liverpool City Council, the redevelopment will allow the club to host international fixtures and European finals.
It said there are parts of the stadium that currently "fall below current Uefa and Premier League standards, which restrict the club's ability" to host major games.
Uefa insists upon at least a 50,000-capacity stadium, corporate accommodation and a minimum standard for players and match officials' changing rooms.
A memorial to the 96 Liverpool fans who died in the 1989 Hillsborough disaster will be moved to form part of the Hillsborough Memorial Garden.

Tim Howard's Man Utd comments are garbage - Brad Friedel

Brad Friedel wants an apology from Tim Howard for claims made in Howard's autobiography
Former United States team-mates Brad Friedel and Tim Howard have become embroiled in an argument about an incident from more than a decade ago.
In his forthcoming autobiography, Everton goalkeeper Howard, 35, claims Friedel actively tried to block his move to Manchester United in 2003.
Friedel, though, has denied the allegation and is demanding an apology from the current US number one.
"It is complete garbage," the 43-year-old Tottenham keeper told ESPN.
"I never sabotaged and I never stood in the way of Tim Howard getting a work permit. This is ludicrous."
Howard completed a £2.5m move from Major League Soccer side Metrostars to United 11 years ago, but needed a work permit.

Louis van Gaal: Manchester United manager can spend as he wishes

Louis van Gaal
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has been told money is no barrier if he wants to improve his squad.
Van Gaal spent £150m in the summer, including a British record £59.7m on Angel Di Maria, but still trail Chelsea by 11 points in the Premier League.
Defensive midfielder Kevin Strootman and defenders Mats Hummels and Diego Godin are all targets for United.
However, United chief executive Ed Woodward has already said any "short-term fixes" in January are unlikely.
Speaking last month, he revealed: "We have targets we are looking at for next summer.
"Should any of them become available in January, which is obviously rare, we will consider acting. But it is a low probability."
United sources question whether Roma would allow Dutch international Strootman, 24, to leave when they are still battling for the Serie A title.

Brits 2015: Critics' Choice Award shortlist is unveiled

George The Poet, James Bay, Years and Years
Three new acts are being tipped for success in 2015 after being shortlisted for the Brits Critics' Choice Award.
George The Poet, James Bay and three-piece group Years and Years will battle for the honour.
The winner will be announced on 4 December and will receive their trophy, designed by Tracey Emin, at the main Brit awards ceremony on 25 February.
Previous Critics' Choice winners include Emeli Sande, Jessie J and Adele, who won the first award in 2008.
"I still can't believe it. As much as I hoped, being nominated for the Brits Critics' Choice Award is not something I ever imagined would actually happen. What a huge honour," 24-year-old Bay said.
The singer-songwriter has been supporting acts including 2013 winner Tom Odell and John Newman.
George The Poet, 23, said: "I feel privileged to have been shortlisted for the Brits Critics' Choice Award. I always dreamed of reaching people and this nomination shows me that I'm on track."

Sabah, Lebanese singing legend, dies aged 87

Sabah Sabah was nicknamed "Shahroura", Arabic for "singing bird" by her millions of fans
Lebanese singer and actress Sabah, one of the Arab world's best-known entertainers, has died aged 87.
Sabah, whose real name was Jeanette Gergis al-Feghali, first came to prominence in the 1950s as star of Egyptian movies.
During her more than six-decade long career, she released over 50 albums and acted in 98 films.
She died at her home in Beirut of an unspecified illness, reported Lebanon's National News Agency.
Sabah was the first Arab singer to perform at Olympia in Paris, Carnegie Hall in New York, Piccadilly Theatre in London and the Sydney Opera House.

Ebola vaccine 'promising' say scientists after human trial

Vaccine injection A 39-year-old woman was the first volunteer to receive the experimental Ebola vaccine

The first human trial of an experimental vaccine against Ebola suggests that it is safe and may help the immune system to combat the virus.
Twenty volunteers were immunised in the United States. Scientists at the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) described the results as "promising".
The research is published in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM).
None of those immunised suffered major side-effects and all produced antibodies.
Dr Anthony Fauci of the NIH told the BBC: "On safety and on the ability to produce an appropriate immune response we can call this trial an unqualified success, even though it was an early Phase One trial."
The volunteers were divided into two groups, receiving either a low or high dose. The antibody response was stronger among those receiving the higher dose.
The investigators found that seven of the high dose and two of the lose dose volunteers produced T-cell immune responses, which may be important in protection against Ebola viruses.
The vaccine uses a chimpanzee cold virus which has been genetically engineered to carry a non-infectious Ebola protein on its surface.

Arsenal vs dortmund

  • Arsenal in second stage for 15th successive season
  • Sanchez scores third goal in five CL games
  • Dortmund beaten for first time in Group D
Yaya Sanogo scored his first goal for Arsenal as they defeated Borussia Dortmund and ensured their passage into the Champions League knockout stage.
The 21-year-old netted after 19 appearances without a goal when he finished off a one-two with Santi Cazorla with a low shot early on.
Alexis Sanchez made it 2-0 after the break with a superb low curling shot.
Sanchez also had a shot pushed away, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain struck the crossbar with a dipping volley.
It was a mature performance by the Gunners who, like their opponents, have found solace in this competition this season from the struggles of the domestic league.
They quelled the threat of Dortmund on the counter-attack, with Jurgen Klopp's side only seriously troubling keeper Emiliano Martinez once, in stoppage time.
The Bundesliga outfit had named a strong side despite having secured their berth with four wins from four games but before they had a chance to establish themselves at the Emirates, they were a goal down.
That was scored by a player who was the source of some ridicule on social media when the teams were announced before the match.
Sanogo's ungainly style has irked some fans and there was further astonishment when he was named ahead of Germany World Cup winner Lukas Podolski.
But he finally managed to temper some of that criticism when he converted his first effort after starting the move with a ball-juggle and backheel to Spaniard Cazorla.
With the Germans already qualified and Arsenal almost there, the tempo of the game was sedate at times, although the Gunners picked up the pace after the break.
First Sanchez tested the Germany international keeper Roman Weidenfeller with a low shot after battling past two challenges, before the pacy Oxlade-Chamberlain produced a beautiful volley that failed to dip enough.
They finally managed a second when Sanchez, who flitted in and out of the game, cut inside from the left and bent an effort that beat Weidenfeller's reach. It was the Chile international's seventh goal in his last six matches for the Gunners.
Martinez was finally forced to make a big save in stoppage time when he dived to keep out substitute Adrian Ramos's effort.
The win moves Arsenal to 10 points in Group D and a victory over Galatasaray coupled with Dortmund losing to Anderlecht in the final round of games would see Wenger's side go through as winners.

Balotelli: I'm a 7/10 player

Mario Balotelli (AFP)
Cape Town - With just two goals to his name since his arrival at Liverpool, Mario Balotelli has commented on his form.

Fox Sports Australia interviewed the mercurial Italian talent and Balotelli was asked to rate himself out of 10.
"Seven," answered Balotelli.

Two years ago, the Italian striker rated himself as a 6.5 out of 10 player and was asked his reasons for the improved rating.

"Because I run more than before." replied Balotelli.
"Because goals, they will come. They're something that are just not coming at the moment, but it's not something that has gone.
"But run, like I'm running now, I've never run like this. So it's something I've got. So I give half a point more. " I try to press more. For sure, I'm not pressing like (Luis) Suarez because he is different.

"He runs a lot. I cannot run like this. But I'm trying to run more than what I normally do."

Balotelli did not travel with the Liverpool side for Sunday's 3-1 loss at Crystal Palace.

The 24-year-old suffered a hamstring injury in training which forced him out of the clash.

Barca defender Vermaelen may need surgery

Thomas Vermaelen (Supplied)
Barcelona - Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen may need an operation to cure his thigh injury, sports director Andoni Zubizarreta said on Monday.
The Belgium centre half is still waiting to make his competitive debut after joining from Arsenal in the close season and his signing is turning into something of an embarrassment for the board.
"We don't know if Vermaelen is now going to need surgery, we are studying the situation," Zubizarreta told reporters ahead of Tuesday's Champions League game at APOEL Nicosia.
"We are worried for him and the medical staff are evaluating what is best."

Emergency Team Supporting Health Workers on Ebola Front Lines

AmeriCares Emergency Team on the front line of West Africa’s Ebola outbreak continue to expand the scope and scale of their efforts to protect health workers who are at greatest risk in the relentless spread of the deadly virus. This international public health emergency, as proclaimed by the World Health Organization, has infected more than 570 health workers and killed 324, including doctors and nurses. The overall death toll from Ebola has reached more than 5,400 with the greatest number of fatalities occurring in Liberia and Sierra Leone.
From the beginning of the crisis we recognized that the region’s under-resourced and under-staffed health care systems would not only be challenged by Ebola, but that other patients – still needing care for malaria, typhoid, complicated childbirth and other illnesses would risk having those conditions unattended. AmeriCares is committed to the fight against Ebola, and also supporting local health care workers in Africa so they can help other patients in desperate need of medicines and medical care.

Jamie Donaldson rescues cat from clubhouse roof in Dubai

Jamie Donaldson rescues cat
Welsh golfer and Ryder Cup winner Jamie Donaldson can now add 'cat rescuer' to his repertoire.
Donaldson, 39, had just shot a 67 to leave him joint 13th at the European Tour season finale in Dubai.
But he still had the energy to swing into action and fetch a cat from a flowerbed on the Jumeirah Golf Estates clubhouse on Saturday.
Donaldson, from Pontypridd, scored the winning point to win the Ryder Cup for Europe at Gleneagles in September.

Graeme McDowell on 2014: Ryder Cup, McIlroy & Poulter

Graeme McDowell
With the European Tour having come to a close for 2014, we can safely say it was a year that belonged to my friend and Ryder Cup team-mate Rory McIlroy.
It was a great year for the continent, with Rory taking his two majors and Martin Kaymer winning the US Open. Then, of course, there was also our successful defence of the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.
Here are some of my thoughts as I look back on events on the Tour this year.

My personal highlight of the 2014 season

Play media
Ryder Cup 2014: Day three in three minutes
Ryder Cup final day in three minutes
Coming back from three down against Jordan Spieth in the top match on the final day of singles at Gleneagles.
At one point I really felt like that day was getting away from me. Captain Paul McGinley had asked me to do a job and I was letting the team down. I had to dig in and try to send some positive messages to the rest of the guys.
The big turning point was Jordan missing his eight-foot putt on the seventh to go four up. I followed him in on eight and nine for birdies and then came his three-putt on the 10th - a chink in his armour - and away I went.
Winning your own singles match just makes it that little bit more special on the Sunday afternoon of a Ryder Cup.
There are a lot of emotions you go through on a day like that. To win like I did and have Rory there to be the first to celebrate with me - given everything that happened with us in the year - was very special.
I felt like I'd stepped up to the plate in leadership terms with my role alongside Victor Dubuisson. For the first time I realised my maturity as a player and it was a breakthrough on a lot of fronts for me.

British duo win Nottingham Indoor Tennis quad doubles

Andy Lapthorne
British pair Andy Lapthorne and Jamie Burdekin claimed doubles quad victory at the Nottingham Indoor Wheelchair Tennis Tournament on Saturday.
The duo beat compatriot Antony Cotterill and his Australian partner Dylan Alcott 6-4 1-6 7-6
Britons Jordanne Whiley and Lucy Shuker won the women's doubles crown, overcoming the duo of Kgothatso Montjane and Kaitlyn Verfuerth.
Glasgow's Gordon Reid beat Stefan Olsson to defended his singles title.
British number one Reid, who thrashed Sweden's former world number two 6-0 6-1 in Sunday's final, failed to add to his singles success later in the day as he and France's Michael Jeremiasz were beaten 6-4 6-3 by top seeds Joachim Gerard and Nicolas Peifer in the men's doubles.
Whiley, the first Briton to win the same event at all four Grand Slams in the same year, lost the women's singles decider to top seed and four-time Nottingham Indoor champion Jiske Griffioen 6-0 6-4.
There had also been disappointment for Lapthorne in the singles earlier in the weekend when he failed to defend his singles title, losing 6-2 6-1 to Alcott.
Londoner Lapthorne, 24, who won his first Grand Slam singles title at September's US Open, said: "It was a tough singles.
"To come back from match points down and win the doubles is a great feeling and showed good character.
"If I lost that match, this day would have been a downer, but I hope this gives me momentum for the Masters in my home city of London next week."

Davis Cup final: Federer and Wawrinka give Swiss advantage

Roger Federer
Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka beat French doubles duo Julien Benneteau and Richard Gasquet to give Switzerland a 2-1 lead in the Davis Cup final.
Federer showed no signs of his recent back problem as the Swiss won 6-3 7-5 6-4 on the indoor clay court in Lille.
The 33-year-old, who lost his singles match to Gael Monfils on Friday, said: "Clearly it's a big relief. The medical staff, it's a big thanks to them."
Richard Gasquet faces Federer in the first of two singles matches on Sunday.
Gasquet was called up to replace Richard Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who missed Saturday's doubles despite being tipped to partner Gasquet and was reported to be suffering pain in his elbow.
Sunday's two matches will decide the final, with Wawrinka expected to face Monfils as the Swiss seek to capture the first Davis Cup title in their history.

Davis Cup final: Roger Federer dedicates win to his team-mates

Roger Federer
Roger Federer beat Richard Gasquet to seal Switzerland's first Davis Cup triumph, then dedicated the victory to his team-mates.
The 17-time Grand Slam champion beat France's Gasquet 6-4 6-2 6-2 to give the Swiss an unassailable 3-1 lead.
"This one is for the boys," said Federer, who was in tears at the end of the match.
"This is not for me, I have won enough. I am just happy we can give everyone in our country a historic moment."
Federer, 33, also paid tribute to compatriot Stan Wawrinka, who helped set up the victory in Lille by beating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga before partnering Federer to win the doubles.
Federer and Wawrinka were involved in a row at the ATP Tour Finals in London, which the world number two later described as "heat of the moment".

Barbarians to play Ireland and England in May 2015

Keith Earls faced Munster team-mate Mick O'Driscoll when Ireland played the Barbarians in May 2012
Ireland and England will play the Barbarians in May as part of their Rugby World Cup preparations.
The Barbarians will face Joe Schmidt's side on Thursday 28 May 2015 at Thomond Park in Limerick then play England at Twickenham three days later.
The Baa Baas, who mark their 125th anniversary in 2015, are expected to field in-form Munster players as well as star names against Ireland.
"It promises to be truly memorable," said IRFU president Louis Magee.
"The celebrated Barbarians brand of rugby will bring an entertaining game to Thomond Park and one which I am sure Ireland and rugby fans will look forward to seeing."
Barbarian FC President Micky Steele-Bodger said: "We are absolutely delighted to be invited back to Ireland, where we have so many friends in the game. Over the years Irish rugby folk have done the Barbarians proud, both as players and administrators.
"The prospect of playing Ireland in Limerick is something we shall look forward to tremendously and will provide a fitting start to our 2015 summer tour and 125th anniversary celebrations."

England: Concussed Billy Vunipola ruled out of Australia Test

Billy Vunipola
Billy Vunipola has been ruled out of England's autumn international against Australia with concussion and replaced by Thomas Waldrom of Exeter Chiefs.
Back-rower Vunipola, 22, was dropped by coach Stuart Lancaster for England's 28-9 win over Samoa last Saturday, with Ben Morgan starting at number eight.
Vunipola was then injured in Saracens' 31-24 loss to Northampton and not included in England's 34-man pool.

Myler, who kicked 16 points for Northampton in the victory over Saracens, has regained his berth in the squad for England's final November international following a hamstring strain.

England v Australia: Tevita Kuridrani ruled out of Test

Australia centre Tevita Kuridrani
Australia's Tevita Kuridrani will miss Saturday's match against England at Twickenham with an ankle injury.
The Fijian-born outside centre, 23, sustained the injury in the second half of last weekend's 26-23 defeat against Ireland in Dublin.
Kuridrani arrived at training in London on Monday wearing a protective boot.
Coach Michael Cheika could select Kurtley Beale at outside centre for the game against England or bring in Adam Ashley-Cooper from the wing.
Ashley-Cooper admitted the defeat by Ireland, the team's second of the tour, having also narrowly lost in France, had given his team plenty to work on.
"The Irish did really well in terms of coming at us in the air, which we certainly weren't expecting," he said.
"Jonathan Sexton had a really good game in that area and he kicked to areas of the field where we weren't.
"That's an area we'll address this week during training so it nullifies any threats like that the English may pose."
The current tour is the first under Cheika who was brought in after Ewan McKenzie's resignation just days before Australia left for Europe.
Australia squad: Israel Folau, Adam Ashley-Cooper, Matt Toomua, Henry Speight, Bernard Foley, Nick Phipps, James Slipper, Saia Fainga'a, Sekope Kepu, Sam Carter, Rob Simmons; Luke Jones, Michael Hooper (capt), Ben McCalman, James Hanson, Benn Robinson, Ben Alexander, Tetera Faulkner, Will Skelton, James Horwill, Jake Schatz, Will Genia, Quade Cooper, Rob Horne, Kurtley Beale.

What special items do you pop in your kit bag if you are an England cricketer heading off on tour? Captain Alastair Cook likes to take a dart board with him. For others, television box sets and games consoles help to while away the hours during downtime. The wonderfully eccentric former England wicketkeeper Jack Russell would not leave home without several boxes of Weetabix, enough tea bags to feed his 30-cups-a-day habit, biscuits, mashed potato, baked beans and HP sauce. Alongside Russell's creature comforts, James Tredwell's penchant for home-made jam and chutney appears decidedly modest. But that will not make the off-spinner any less popular in the team room in Sri Lanka, where England play seven one-day internationals in the next three weeks, starting in Colombo on Wednesday. "I've got a bit of a patch where I grow my own fruit and veg so I make some chutneys and jams if I have a bit of a glut," Tredwell told BBC Sport before departing for the island off the Indian subcontinent. "I've got a couple of chutneys this year which I might sneak into the bag to Sri Lanka but customs tend to be a bit tight these days. "When we're in Bangladesh and places like that, where the food can be quite temperamental at times, it can be quite nice to have a bit of home comfort. At other times, it's just a good way for me to get rid of it. I have that many jars of it in the cupboard, it's nice to take it away and let the boys enjoy it."

Rangana Herath
Sri Lanka have recalled left-arm spinner Rangana Herath for their seven-match one-day series with England which starts in Colombo on Wednesday.
Herath, 36, was rested for their recent 5-0 series whitewash in India.
Left-handed batsman Thilina Kandamby, 32, has not played an ODI since 2011 but returns after Sri Lanka failed to score 300 in any match against India.
Off-spinner Dilruwan Perera, who last played in an ODI for Sri Lanka in 2008, is also named in the 15-man squad.
Sri Lanka have also selected frontline spinner Ajantha Mendis and leg-spinning all-rounder Jeevan Mendis in the squad.
Injured fast bowler Lasith Malinga  is still recovering from surgery on his ankle, while seamer Nuwan Kulasekara has been left out in favour of Shaminda Eranga while batsmen Dinesh Chandimal and Ashan Priyanjan are both dropped..
Also in the squad, captained by Angelo Mathews, are pace pair Dhammika Prasad and Shaminda Eranga, who helped Sri Lanka to a surprise Test series win over England last summer.
Sri Lanka ODI squad to face England: Angelo Mathews (captain), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kusal Perera, Kumar Sangakkara (wicketkeeper), Mahela Jayawardena, Lahiru Thirimanne, Jeevan Mendis, Thilina Kandamby, Rangana Herath, Dilruwan Perera, Ajantha Mendis, Shaminda Eranga, Dhammika Prasad, Thisara Perera, Lahiru Gamage.

Australia v India: Michael Clarke doubtful with hamstring injury

Michael Clarke
Captain Michael Clarke remains doubtful for Australia's first Test with India in Brisbane which starts on 4 December.
Clarke was named in a 12-man squad with the proviso he played in a two-day tour match with India on Friday to prove his fitness after hamstring trouble.
The 33-year-old said medics had ruled him out for the tour match but he would play for his Sydney club on Saturday.
"Hopefully I can make myself available, then it is up to the selectors to work out what to do," he said.
"I would never walk out onto that field, whether it's for my state, my club or country, if I am not 100%."
Late on Monday, Cricket Australia said Clarke needed to play in the Adelaide tour match to prove his fitness.
"If he is not able to get up for the CA XI game, and given his history with this recurring injury, he will be ruled out of any cricket this week and the first Test and our focus will shift to getting him fit to play the second Test in Adelaide commencing on Friday 12 December," it said in a statement.
Clarke, who has scored 8,297 runs in 107 Tests, suffered a hamstring injury directly before a one-day tournament in Zimbabwe in August and September.
The problem resurfaced and he also missed a one-day series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates in October.
The Australian captain last aggravated the injury in the opening one-day international against South Africa in November, forcing him to miss the rest of the series while putting his hopes of playing against India in doubt.
He has repeatedly been urged to quit one-day cricket to prolong his Test career but when asked if he had any plans to retire in the next 12 months, said: "No I don't.
"My goal is to continue to play for Australia for a lot longer. I love both forms of the game."
In the absence of regular captain MS Dhoni, India will be led by batsman Virat Kohli at the Gabba.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan will offer his proposal for an FA Cup-style Twenty20 competition to the England and Wales Cricket Board.
The idea of a knockout  involving first-class sides, minor counties and clubs came in response to an ECB report into falling numbers in amateur cricket.
"I'm trying to set the ball in motion for the game of cricket to realise that we need change," said Vaughan.
"The whole game needs to gel together and this is one way."
An ECB survey published last week showed that the number of people playing cricket in teams at grassroots level fell from 908,000 in 2013 to 844,000 in 2014 - a drop of 7%.
"The game's administrators should be concerned about those participation figures," Vaughan told BBC Radio 5 live. "Cricket needs to get a buzz back into it.
"A lot of my friends play semi-pro football and all they ever talk about is the FA Cup."
The T20 knockout could involve the 18 first-class counties, 20 minor counties and clubs from the 26 ECB Premier Leagues - the top level of amateur cricket.
Like the FA Cup, the club sides would be involved in the early rounds, with the minor and first-class counties entering at a later stage.
"You want that romantic tie, that opportunity for a club side," added Vaughan, who captained England in 51 Test matches between 2003 and 2008.
"It's something that could be set up quite easily. It will get the amateur game closer to the professional game, get pros who aren't in their county side back into the club system and a way of getting some cash back to the grassroots.
"It wouldn't add too much more cricket to the first-class sides because they might only need to play four matches to reach the final."

Phil Hughes: Australia cricketer critically ill after being hit by ball

Ambulance on the pitch at Sydney cricket ground (25 Nov 2014)
Players surround Hughes on the pitch in Sydney
Australia batsman Phil Hughes is in a critical condition after being hit by a bouncer at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
The South Australia left-hander, 25 collapsed after a delivery from New South Wales bowler Sean Abbott struck him on the head, missing his helmet.
Hughes was carried off on a stretcher and taken to hospital where he was put in an induced coma following surgery
Cricket Australia team doctor Peter Brukner said there would be no update on his condition until Wednesday.
Hughes, who has played 26 Tests, made his Test debut at the age of 20 against South Africa in 2009.
In only his second match, he became the youngest batsman to post two centuries in a Test match.
He played county cricket for Hampshire, Middlesex and Worcestershire and shared in a then world record 10th-wicket partnership of 163 with Ashton Agar against England in the 2013 Ashes series.

Manchester City will be without midfielders Yaya Toure and Fernandinho for their crucial Champions League game against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Manchester City v Bayern Munich
The pair were both sent-off in the 2-1 home defeat to CSKA Moscow and miss out through suspension.
David Silva, Edin Dzeko and Aleksandar Kolarov are all injured but Sergio Aguero and Stevan Jovetic are fit.
City will go out if they fail to beat Bayern and either CSKA Moscow or Roma win their game (kick-off 17:00 BST).
Manuel Pellegrini's side have collected just two points from their first four Group E games and are facing failure to reach the knockout stages for a third time in four seasons.
Depending on other results, City could still progress if they do not win on Tuesday, but Pellegrini accepts there is little room for error.
He said: "Nobody in the whole team is happy about the way we have played this stage of the group.
"We have on Tuesday, our last chance to try to win this year, to beat Bayern Munich and continue to have chances to go to the next stage."
Bayern have already qualified as group winners and are seven points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, but are without Philipp Lahm, David Alaba, Javi Martinez, Holger Badstuber and Thiago Alcantara.

Samir Nasri: 'Man City players may go if we exit Champions League'

Uefa Champions League Group E - Many City v Bayern Munich

  • Venue: Etihad Stadium
  • Date: Tuesday, 25 November
  • Kick-off: 19:45 GMT
Coverage: Live text commentary on BBC Sport website, full match commentary on BBC Radio 5 live
Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri says players may be replaced if his side fail to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages.
City are bottom of Group E, with two points from four matches and could be eliminated if they fail to beat Bayern Munich at Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.
"We need to do something or otherwise next year it's going to be new players and new everything," Nasri, 27, said.
City have never progressed beyond the last-16 stage of the competition.
They could suffer a group-stage exit for a third time in four years if they lose and either CSKA Moscow or Roma win in the other group match.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini led the Premier League champions to the knockout stages for the first time last season.
"Let's be honest, with the salary of every player and the level of those players, 90% of the team are world class, then not to qualify from the first round of the Champions League would be a huge blow for the club - and for us as well," Nasri told national newspaper reporters.
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al-Nahyan and the Abu Dhabi ruling family have spent £750m on players  alone since their August 2008 takeover.
But Bayern midfielder Xabi Alonso says City's European struggles show that financial might does not always bring success.
"There is no set formula where you are buying success," Alonso, 32, said. "Football is not mathematics."

Manchester City's recent European fortunes

2013-14: Champions League last 16 - beaten by Barcelona
2012-13: Champions League group stage
2011-12: Europa League last 16 (having finished third in Uefa Champions League group stage)
2010-11: Europa League last 16
2009-10: Did not qualify for Europe
2008-09: Uefa Cup quarter-finals
However, former Liverpool and Real Madrid man Alonso expects City's financial clout to translate to Champions League success eventually.
"It's hard to tell from the outside but of course you expect that any season City will make that impact in Europe," he said.
"So far they haven't done it but I'm pretty sure that big year for City isn't far away because season by season they try to improve."
City have drawn two matches, at home to Roma and away to CSKA, and lost two games in their group, and Argentine defender Martin Demichelis says the players are disappointed with this season's European campaign.
"We are not happy with our Champions League performances. We have a good squad and should do much better," he saidManchester City midfielder Samir Nasri

Lionel Messi: Barcelona star hailed as 'greatest in history'

Players carry Lionel Messi on their shoulders
Barcelona's Lionel Messi is "the greatest player in football history", says president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
The Argentine, 27, is the all-time top scorer in Spain's La Liga with 253 goals following his hat-trick in Saturday's 5-1 win over Sevilla.
Bartomeu said: "We'll have Leo here for many more years. We are delighted with what he has achieved.
"We knew the record was going to come. It made me very happy to see him equal it, for him and for the club."
The four-time world player of the year has scored 368 goals in total for Barcelona, his only senior club, and 45 for Argentina.
Messi - who is also the joint top scorer in Champions League history with 71 - had recently said his future was "complicated", but his father played that down soon afterwards.
Bartomeu said: "There are no words to describe what he is doing. He is happy at Barcelona, where he has been for so many years, and he gets on well with his team-mates.
"He's concerned about non-sporting issues but the club is supporting him. People should speak to him about football rather than other things."
After the game, Barca head coach Luis Enrique said he thinks Messi will extend the record, which had previously stood since 1955, so much it will become "unreachable" for anyone else.

Chelsea and Liverpool 'poles apart' in Premier League race

Liverpool v Chelsea
While Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was fending off inquiries about whether his side could be the latest "Invincible" to go a Premier League season unbeaten, Liverpool's Brendan Rodgers was handling an inquisition about a third loss in seven days.
The mood swings could not have been more different as Chelsea's 2-1 win at Liverpool kept them in pole position in the early title running and left last season's runners-up struggling to halt a slide.
So what were the main talking points from this game of contrasts?
606 debate: Why are Liverpool on the slide?

Poles apart

The journey has only taken 195 days - but in this short time results and events have conspired to send Chelsea and Liverpool in polar opposite directions.
When Chelsea last won at Anfield on 27 April, it ended Liverpool's 11-game winning sequence that took them to the edge of the Premier League title on a tidal wave of dazzling football and fan fervour.
Since that day things have never been quite the same for Brendan Rodgers' side while Chelsea manager Mourinho has corrected the flaws in their make-up and restored them to the status of title favourites.
Liverpool lost their great talisman and world-class striker Luis Suarez after his World Cup biting shame while Chelsea struck swiftly in the markets to sign striker Diego Costa and bring Cesc Fabregas back to the Premier League from Barcelona.

Rodgers used the £75m he received for Suarez to bolster his squad and add the big gamble of £16m Mario Balotelli - and the current status of both policies was placed starkly in front of Anfield on Saturday.
Chelsea looked united, a team that almost begs the quote "same as last week" from Mourinho. Round pegs in round holes, quality and strength the hallmarks.
Liverpool look a disjointed collection of parts, perhaps understandable given the scale of reconstruction of their squad, a team that has lost its way and the intensity that pressed so many opponents into submission last season.
Former England winger Chris Waddle, at Anfield for BBC Radio 5 live, said: "Brendan Rodgers doesn't know what his best team is or what his best system is."
The post-Suarez period of transition has not been helped by injury to Daniel Sturridge. The pair scored 52 goals between them last season and any team would miss that.
Whereas Costa and Fabregas have slipped seamlessly into Chelsea's team, Liverpool's newcomers have not hit their stride.
Dejan Lovren has been unconvincing since his £20m move from Southampton, while his former colleagues at St Mary's Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert only made the bench against Chelsea.
Emre Can at least scored via a deflection but Balotelli was again anonymous.

Joe Cole: Aston Villa man on Mourinho, his career and robots

Joe Cole
Joe Cole says football will produce more and more "robots" unless players are reminded that the game is about a "round ball".
The former England international has enjoyed enormous success in his career, winning three Premier League titles and three FA Cups, as well as 56 caps for his country.
Hailed as the hottest prospect in British football in the 1990s and likened to Paul Gascoigne, Cole was known for his silky skills and eye for goal.
Now, as he prepares to celebrate his 33rd birthday on Saturday, he is urging clubs and players not to "forget" what football is really about.
"You get a lot of people coming into the game - sport psychologists, etc - but, at the end of the day, it's a round ball," he said. "That won't change.
"You get all this other stuff which can help one or two per cent, but don't forget what it is to play football.
"A manager once said to me: 'If you want to be good at playing the piano, you don't run round it or pick it up, you play it.' That's stuck with me."

Sergio Aguero: Man City hero's journey from the 'cave of vipers'

Sergio Aguero
A broad smile spreads across Sergio Aguero's face as he stares down on the pitch where he has created moments of history in the sky blue of Manchester City.
Beyond the window lies the damp murk of an autumn afternoon in the north. But what soon becomes clear is that the boy from Buenos Aires feels very much at home here.
Aguero lights up a bustling room high in the stands at Etihad Stadium. A difficult defeat the night before is put to one side. He is polite, charming, warm and open. A young man who, as his friends testify, has never forgotten where he has come from. A man who approaches football, as he does his wider life, with total commitment.
The surroundings are a far cry from the crowded dirt pitch in the in Los Eucaliptos district of Buenos Aires where he first kicked a football. But for now, this is home.
"I am so happy here," he says. "I find life so calm, very different to when I played in Spain. The only things I miss from home are my son, my family and my friends."
Aguero's little boy has accompanied him today. Five-year-old Benjamin Aguero, the grandson of Diego Maradona and the godson of Lionel Messi, plays on the floor near his father's feet, transfixed by a Remembrance Day poppy. The Manchester City striker is here today to discuss his new book - Born to Rise - which charts his journey from the streets of Argentina to footballing superstardom in Europe.
Sergio Aguero and Diego Maradona
Aguero became the youngest player to debut in Argentina's Primera Division at 15 years and 35 days, breaking the record previously established by Diego Maradona in 1976
"Time has passed but my love for the game is as it was when I was a boy," he says.
Outside the stadium, hundreds of fans have queued through the night for the chance to meet their hero. Only 150 will be given the chance. On a bitterly cold, wet Manchester night, many began to wait immediately after the final whistle of the CSKA Moscow defeat the night before. They will not get to meet Aguero until 4pm.
Another Champions League disappointment of the defeat by CSKA is still on his mind, as the stadium cleaners sweep the aisles clear of paper cups a few yards away.
"Obviously in the Champions League, we are not currently in the position we want to be, it's not what we were expecting," he says."
"The only thing we can do is to keep going. We still have two games to play and we have to win both of those, and then wait and see.
"Of course, we understand the people who have been criticising us, because the club invests in some top quality players and with that the fans clearly want to see more from us. The fans expect more. I do think we can still turn it around though."
It will take more than a few defeats to shake Aguero's self-belief. The fans waiting outside will meet a man who believes, wholeheartedly, he was born to play football.
"In the barrio where I lived as a young boy, there was a football pitch right by my house," he says. "It was a very unique and unusual story that I only had to step out of my house and the pitch was right there for me to just go and have a kick about.
"I have always loved football. That I'm here today is, I think, down to all the hard work put in and all the time spent at the age of five kicking a football around."
Aguero's family was poor. The neighbourhood was known as La Cueva de las Viboras, or 'the cave of the vipers.' The family home was surrounded by dirt roads; dusty in the summer, muddy in the winter. The nearest tarmac was 400m away. His house had a sheet metal roof, a cement floor and one double bed. The family had a makeshift wardrobe made out of bricks and wood, a hole in the ground for a toilet.

His arrival into the world was also uncomfortable. "It was going to be difficult for my mother to give birth and the doctors decided that to make this possible they would have to break my collar-bone," he says.
"So that's what happened and I was then kept in hospital for two months until my bone had mended. And then I went home."
Aguero's father, Leo, was a talented footballer. But, at the age of 27 he stopped in order to put his son's fledging career first.
"He took me everywhere, from one pitch to another," says Aguero. "It seemed normal to me, having him by my side. But now I am older I realise not all fathers were able to do what he did. I got the luck he never had."
It was in his formative years that the nickname Kun stuck. It was inspired by a Japanese cartoon character that Aguero, the toddler, would be captivated by. The character was called 'Kum, Kum' but it was Kun that stuck. And is now stuck on the back of his shirt.
When he was nine, he joined Independiente. At the age of 15 he became the youngest-ever player in Argentina's Primera Division, breaking a record held by Maradona. Another young boy from Argentina watched on. His name was Messi.
"I can clearly remember the first day that I saw Kun, that moment has remained etched in my memory," Messi writes in the foreword for Aguero's book. "Back then I didn't know who he was or even what he was called, let alone that I would later meet him in person or that, from then on, we would become great friends."
They remain great friends. The best of friends. Their scoring records are astonishing.
Aguero scored 23 goals in 54 league games for Independiente, a further 75 in 175 for Atletico Madrid and has added 62 goals in 81 league games since being lured to City in the summer of 2011. In terms of minutes per goal, Aguero is comfortably the top striker in Premier League history.
Messi knows all about rewriting the record books, with 250 goals in 248 league starts for Barcelona. Their brilliance bonds them together and has done since 2005 when they were the two youngest players in the Argentina Under-20 squad.
"We roomed together at the Under-20 World Cup in Holland and we hit it off really well. So from that moment on, we have always shared a room together," Aguero says.
A few years ago, the Argentina fitness coach suggested the players have their own rooms. Messi, though, asked to continue sharing with Aguero. "Don't worry we are just friends," he writes in the book. "When he is asleep I have to tiptoe to the toilet and stop my phone from vibrating in case it wakes him up. He is like a brother."
Sergio Aguero
Sergio Aguero's late goal against QPR in 2012 gave Manchester City their first league title since 1968
And yet, while Messi has found his home from home in Catalunya, Aguero has found his in Cheshire. This is a man who enjoys the cold and the rain. He likes to take his son fishing in the nearby lakes, he likes to play golf, he likes to slip through the Trafford Centre crowds with a cap pulled low over his eyes. The truth is that the 26-year-old is rarely hassled even by those who do spot him walking past.
Aguero is more than a player in these parts. He is a moment in history, a name that will live on long after he has left the club, thanks to a single, precious goal on May 13 2012. City play Queens Park Rangers, the opponents on that day, this weekend.
"Whenever the name QPR gets mentioned, memories of that day come flooding back," he says. "It was a historic moment and for me it was a really special moment after all the years I've spent playing football.
"But, we are playing them this weekend again, and while of course every game is tough in the Premier League let's hope we can pick up a good result there. But, that QPR goal will go down in history for me."
Sergio Aguero
At of the end of the 2013-14 season, Aguero had the highest goals per minute ratio in Premier League history
In scoring a goal that clinched City's first title in 44 years, Aguero scored a goal to define a career, a truly dramatic moment that may not be bettered.
Or can it?
"Yes I think so," he says with that familiar winning smile. "I'm still very young and I believe you can always keep improving year on year.
"I'm at the age where I have been playing the game now for a few years in the top flight but there is always something you can improve on. So I can always use that to help me to get better."
And what of the future? Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez and Gareth Bale are world stars who have swapped England for Spain in recent years. So will Aguero follow?
"I'm really happy here," he says. "The club and the fans have treated me very well since I arrived.
"I'm into my fourth season now and this place is like home for me. I have four years left on my contract, my plan is to see it out. I'm very happy to stay here and continue making history for this club. It's a great experience."
Aguero's words are convincing. They do not have the ring of a man saying the right things, even if there is a steel behind his eyes. He is, though, humble and respectful. A man who likes his privacy, a man of his word. A father first, a footballer second.
Before he leaves the room, he shakes hands with everyone in it, saying thank you in his broken English. His son Benjamin also shakes a hand or two. And then Aguero is gone, off into the evening gloom to light up the lives of 150 fans clutching the hand of the boy who lights up his own. "My son is the light of my life," he says.
"When I look into his eyes I see the boy I was and everything that is still to come."

MOTD2 analysis - How Man Utd's diamond suits Angel Di Maria

Manchester United forward Angel Di Maria
MOTD2 pundit Mark Lawrenson expands on his TV analysis of the 4-0 win over QPR that gave Louis van Gaal his first Premier League win as Manchester United manager.
I was at Old Trafford on Sunday to take a first look at some of Manchester United's expensive new signings and see how Louis van Gaal fitted them into his team.
United's British record signing Angel Di Maria was the star of the show on his home debut, scoring one goal and making another in what was a very easy win.
Di Maria was a perfect fit in United's midfield diamond and his display should make Van Gaal think hard about switching back to a three-man defence, because I don't think that system will suit him so well.

Di Maria provides pace and penetration

There was absolutely no doubt that Di Maria was the man who made the difference for United against QPR.
When the Argentina international had the ball, they played at a totally difference pace, and he was so creative with it.
After some poor early crosses he just got better and better, and a couple of dinked passes he played to Robin van Persie were just sublime.
Di Maria was United's only midfield player who really looked to run at the QPR defenders, take them on and commit the opposition.
He linked up well with left-back Marcos Rojo and QPR never really coped with Di Maria, or the tempo United had when he had possession, something that happened a lot, particularly in the first half.

Man Utd's attacks in the first half vs QPR

Manchester United's attacking thirds in first half against QPR
Di Maria played on the left-hand side of a four-man midfield diamond in their 4-1-2-1-2 formation, with Ander Herrera to his right, Daley Blind behind him and Juan Mata at the top.
That role certainly suits Di Maria better than any position in the 3-4-1-2 formation that Van Gaal seems to prefer.
Whether he is used as a wing-back or as a central midfielder in that 3-4-1-2, then he will have more defensive responsibilities.

He showed against QPR that he is willing to work back, and did it well when he had to, but this is a £59.7m player we are talking about.
United spent that much money on him because of what he offers them in attack and, whatever formation they play, surely they want to give him as much freedom as possible.
Di Maria gives them the threat out wide they lacked last season so it is important they play him in a position where he does not have anything else to do but run at defenders all day long.
Why play in a system that burdens him with anything else?

David De Gea: Manchester United goalkeeper dislocates finger

David De Gea dislocates finger during Spain training
Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea dislocated a finger while on international duty with Spain.
The Spanish Football Association confirmed the 24-year-old will miss the Euro 2016 qualifier against Belarus in Huelva on Saturday.
He will be assessed by the Spain team doctors before a decision is made on whether to send him back to his club.
Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has already been ruled out of the Group C match with a hamstring injury.
"David de Gea was forced to stop training after suffering an injury to the fifth finger of his right hand,"

Euro 2016: England play friendlies against Germany and France

 England v Germany
Roy Hodgson's England will face France and world champions Germany in the build-up to Euro 2016.
The FA is also in talks about fixtures against the Netherlands and European title-holders Spain.
With England six points clear at the top of Group E, the matches will give Hodgson's team some quality opposition before the Euros begin.
"They will complement the important Euro qualifiers, which remain the top priority," said the England boss.
Subject to qualification for Euro 2016, Hodgson's side face France - who host the Euros - at Wembley Stadium on 17 November next year and Germany in March 2016.
The FA has already lined up away fixtures next year against Italy, at a venue yet to be decided on 31 March, and the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on 7 June.

Scotland v England: How the players rated at Celtic Park

England won on their first visit to Scotland in 15 years thanks to two goals from captain Wayne Rooney and one from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Oxlade-Chamberlain and Rooney each headed in to give England a 2-0 lead just after half-time.
Andrew Robertson pulled Scotland back into the encounter at Celtic Park with a left-foot finish, before Rooney sealed the 3-1 win after a neat lay-off from Adam Lallana.

Cristiano Ronaldo v Lionel Messi - Ballon d'Or battle falls flat

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi shake hands before kick-off
It was billed as their final battle for votes for this year's Ballon d'Or, but Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi's much-anticipated meeting in Manchester ended up being memorable for the wrong reasons.
Not only did the duo fail to truly duel during Portugal's 1-0 win over Argentina, they both only played 45 minutes before leaving the fans in a half-empty stadium to wonder why they had paid such high ticket prices to watch what was left of a disjointed game.
"It was bitterly disappointing that they both went off so early because seeing them was the sole reason I came to the game in the first place," said Caspar Carter, who had travelled from Leeds.
"We missed kick-off because we queued outside for an hour and paid £66 for our tickets, which is a lot to pay for 45 minutes of not very much," added his friend, James Morpeth.
Given the 41,000 crowd in a 75,000-capacity stadium meant the game's organisers failed to break even, they might regret the decision to bring Argentina, Portugal, and the two best players on the planet to Manchester in the first place. Ronaldo v MessiRonaldo and Messi head to head results
